Rock against Brick

The question is what is the difference between a rock and a brick, and is are the social psychological implications of these differences?

Well I would say that the obvious and most distinct difference is that rocks were made by God, and are natural to us, while bricks are man made. Rocks are therefore more permanent, and more stable than bricks are. Rocks were here first, and bricks can be made out of peices of rocks and other material, however rocks cannot be made out of bricks, so in the since of stability or superiority, rocks win. To me the creation of rocks could be an example of humans again trying to improve their surroundings my making rocks into a more formable shape to build with.

I think that we could use the idea of rocks and bricks as a metaphor for Man and God. God is the Solid strong, and unchanging, rock. And man is the weaker from of a brick.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall. Matthew 7: 21-29

That is beautiful! You know I didn't look at it that way but I completely see it now. That is an awesome distinction between a rock and brick.
